Join us on an exciting Cycle tour across Spain, starting from Cordoba and ending in Alpujarra. The event is in aid of our Water 4 Life projects. Registration fee is R11,500 and target is R40,000.

Day One

Arrival at Malaga and transfer to Cordoba

Upon your arrival at Malaga airport you will be greeted in the arrivals area by Andalucian Routes. Once the group has gathered you will be transferred to Cordoba.
Upon arrival in Cordoba you will check in to your hotel and recoup from your flight. In the evening there will be a briefing and orientation followed by dinner

Day Two

Cordoba

After breakfast we will start our tour with our first stop being an interactive museum followed by a visit to the great mosque of Cordoba.
After lunch we will go to the archaeological site of Medinat Al Zahra, The city built by the Caliph Abdul Rahman III. Here we see the Palace ruins and take a visit to the new exhibitions and museum. We will then go on to Almodovar where we will visit a local Spanish Muslim family and learn about their experience as Muslims in Spain.The family will serve up halal traditional Spanish food. We will return back to the hotel after dinner and spend over night in Cordoba.

Day Three

Cordoba to Zuheros

After breakfast we will depart to a village called Zuheros outside of Cordoba city. On the way we will stop in Montilla to pick up the bikes and start the bike journey with a 45-kilometer ride. There will be a stop for lunch after which we will carry on to Zuheros. Once we arrive in Zuheros we will check into the hotel and explore the local area. We will do reflections of our first day cycling followed by dinner.

Day Four

Zuherros to Alcala La Real

We will will start with a 55-kilometer bike ride to the next stop Alcala La Real. There will be a lunch stop at approximately mid day after which we will carry on to Alcala La Real. Upon arrival at Alcala La Real you will check into the hotel followed by free time to explore the local area. If time permits there will be a presentation on the rise and fall of Islam in Andalucia.

Day Five

Alcala La Real to Granada After breakfast we will depart for Granada, a 55- kilometer journey. Granada was the last Muslim Kingdom, which held out for 250 years before the inevitable fall in 1492. Upon arrival into Granada we will check into the hotel. After lunch there will be a lecture/presentation after which we will make our way to the Alhambra. This is usually the highlight of the tour for many. Nominated a wonder of the world the visit to the Palaces, gardens, and fort will leave you breathless. The visit to the AlHambra could take up to 4 hours.After dinner there will be free time to explore the city.

Day Six

Granada to Al Pujarra

After breakfast there will be the final bike ride approximately 40-kilometers to the lower Sierra Nevada mountain region. This will complete the bike journey. after the completion of the bike tour we will have lunch. After lunch we will depart for the Alpujjara Mountains along the route of Nasrids. On the way we will stop at the old Muslim bridge and the Muslim fort/castle, which is the location of one of the last stands made by the Muslims of Alpujjara. We will then continue on to Orgiva, here we will have a chance to interact with the local Muslim community while having dinner at a restaurant run by a Spanish Muslim who will talk about the concept of halal as a complete lifestyle. We will then check in to a hotel for the night.

Day Seven

AlPujarra to Malaga

After breakfast we will set off for Malaga. Once we arrive in Malaga we will say our final farewells before return flights.

N.B. Itinerary is to be used as a guide and may change in sequence of excursions and visits to sites and monuments due to circumstances out of our control. Please note the tour will be a historical and educational tour that will be facilitated by expert Islamic History guides. the itinerary will include presentations and facilitated reflection moments aimed at connecting your bike tour experience with the cause you will be fundraising for.
