Islamic Relief background

Islamic Relief is an international Non-Government Organisation (NGO) that was established in Birmingham, UK, in 1984. We seek to promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities through relief and development programmes. Islamic Relief SA is an independently registered NGO affiliated to Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW)

Islamic Relief has consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (special category), is a signatory to the code of Conduct for the international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGO’s Disaster Relief, and a member of British Overseas NGOs for Development (BOND).

Pre-Ramadan Food Parcels

Islamic Relief SA wishes to appoint a Service Provider to take on a significant responsibility for supplying, packaging and delivering of pre-Ramadan food parcels in the following areas, Cape Town; Durban; Johannesburg; Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

The Service Provider be flexible in terms of quantity as the final tally will be determined at a later date. 


The current estimate is as follows:

Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg:      400 food parcels per region

Lesotho – Maseru:                                           800 food parcels

Zimbabwe (Harare):                                        1300 food parcels


The primary objective of the Ramadaan food parcel campaign is to assist needy families with food parcels for the month of Ramadaan. Full delivery of the consignment is expected to take place from the 8th May 2017

We call for potential Suppliers to quote for their specific regions.

All quotations to be submitted to Farahneez Hassiem Friday, 13th April 2018 at 16h30

Your quotation will be screened by a panel in order to ensure that the process is transparent and compliant. Islamic Relief South Africa will revert back to you shortly after a Service Provider is selected by the said panel.
