Universal Children’s Day

On the 14th of December 1954, the General Assembly recommended that all countries institute a Universal Children’s Day. The day was to be observed as a day of activity devoted to promoting the ideals and objectives of the Charter and the welfare of the children of the world. This year that day is Friday the 20th of November 2015.

There are around 153 million children without one or both parents to give them a home, safety…and, most importantly, love.

Children face daily struggles of hunger, poverty and insecurity; they have little hope for a better life. Without an education and the tools to support themselves, there is a small chance of a brighter future ahead.

Nearly 25 years ago, the world made a promise to children: that we would do everything in our power to protect and promote their rights to survive and thrive, to learn and grow, to make their voices heard and to reach their full potential.

Islamic Relief sponsors over 43,000 children around the world. . We invest in building safe villages for them with clean water, provide healthcare and education, and work towards providing an environment where every child is safe and protected.

You can sponsor an orphan from just £25 a month. When you sponsor an orphan, you’re not just giving a gift…you’re giving them an entire childhood.
