The ongoing tragedy in Gaza demands immediate attention from the international community. The world stands witness to a massacre where thousands of innocent lives have been lost and essential infrastructure in Gaza mercilessly destroyed. It is pivotal for governments and world leaders to act decisively to end this humanitarian crisis. Islamic Relief echoes the urgent plea for a ceasefire and adherence to international law while emphasising the critical need for humanitarian aid and the end of the siege on Gaza.

The foremost priority is to demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire. The UN Security Council Resolution 2728, advocates for a temporary ceasefire that must be implemented and extended for good. The preservation of human life should be the guiding principle in all actions undertaken by the international community. We can’t be silent while our brothers and sisters and the children of Gaza suffer.

International humanitarian law must be upheld without compromise. The blockade on Gaza must cease to exist to ensure the safe passage of humanitarian aid. Fundamental necessities such as food, fuel, and medicine must be allowed to reach those in need without restriction. All parties involved must commit to protecting civilians and refrain from using disproportionate force in densely populated civilian areas, which has been the case over the past few months. Whatever is left of the limited functional infrastructure in Gaza, including hospitals, power stations, and water facilities, must be safeguarded at all costs.

The dire humanitarian situation in Gaza demands an immediate increase in aid. Over 1.9 million people are displaced and need humanitarian aid. The time to act is now, and we are obligated to respond. Continue supporting the people of Gaza in their time of need – do not delay.

The situation in Gaza demands urgent and concerted action from the international community. The call for a ceasefire, adherence to international law, increased humanitarian aid, and end of the ongoing blockade on Gaza is imperative for preserving human dignity and ending the suffering of innocent civilians. It is time for governments and world leaders to stand on the right side of history and prioritise the lives and well-being of the people of Gaza.

Lastly, and most importantly, we must keep the people of Gaza in our hearts, advocate for them, and share their stories while keeping them in our duas. Our supplications mean more to them than the aid we provide. Indeed, Allah (swt) is the changer of conditions, and we invoke the forgiveness and mercy of Allah to alleviate their pain and suffering.
