Position Title: Housekeeping Custodian

Organisation: Islamic Relief South Africa

Location: Cape Town

Reports to: National Support Services Coordinator / Indirectly to Office Administrator

Job Summary

  • The post shall provide office upkeep and maintenance assistance
  • Helps maintain a clean and hygienic office environment
  • Provide support to the IKD process
  • Serve the needs of IRSA’s guests / visitors

Purpose of Position

1. Office upkeep and maintenance

  • Ensures cleanliness of the office, its premises and facilities
  • Regularly checks kitchen equipment, minor office equipment, furniture and fixtures and reports damages to the Office Administrator.
  • Conducts periodic inventory of office, cleaning and consumable supplies in coordination with Office Administrator.
  • Ensure that office garbage is disposed of properly and that offices are in a clean state daily
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Keep the social amenities (kitchen, meeting rooms etc.)
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in restrooms twice a day
  • Ensure constant availability of accessories such as toilet paper and hand washing soap

2. Tea Lady

  • Tea lady service includes preparing tea and coffee and serving those as required,clearing and collecting used cups and washing those, keeping kitchens clean and in order, and other related duties.
  • Assist in setting up meeting rooms, preparing cups, glasses and plates, water, tea and coffee

3. Office Assistant

  • Shred confidential information when requested
  • Clear desks when its unsightly
  • Assist the Office Administrator with heavy duty lifting if and when required.

4. IKD Assistant

  • Receive all In Kind Donations and record in chronological order as a stock record
  • Pack all IKD in size, gender and season order.
  • Ensure the recipients of the IKD receive IKD in neat and presentable condition.

Educational Qualification:

  • Grade 12 or ABET or RPL
  • 3-4 years of total experience where 1-2 years’ work experience with INGOs/NGOs.
