Reading the Qur’an – Islam’s holy book, the Word of Allah – one cannot help being struck by the number of times charity, or sadaqah, is mentioned. Feeding the poor and needy, supporting orphans, relatives and travellers, spending in the way of Allah…all of these references emphasise the importance of charity for all Muslims.
“The believer’s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be his charity.” – hadith of the Prophet, peace be upon him.
Alhamdulillah, we’ve been using your generous donations – and our duty – to assist over 92 million people over the last 30 years. In order to help even more people, we need your support and donations.
Alhamdulillah, with your dedication – and our responsibilities – we’ve sponsored over 43,000 orphans across the globe. Orphan sponsorship doesn’t just buy an orphan a new set of clothes or a meal, but it changes their life. We help children go to school who otherwise wouldn’t and we remove the burden of responsibility from children and allow them to enjoy their childhood.
Alhamdulillah, with your ongoing support, we have been able to work in areas of conflict for decades, responding to the needs of innocent civilians. We have assisted 2 million people inside Syria, while supporting hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees who have fled to neighbouring countries. We have set up over 73 field hospitals with over 100 ambulances. Your incredible support, through donations and sadaqah has enabled us to spend over £128 million on the Syrian people.
With your commitment, we provided emergency aid to over 100,000 people in Gaza during the 50 day war in 2014. However our work did not stop when the violence ended. Since the ceasefire, we have been working to restore the basic services of healthcare, education, water and sanitation by repairing and refurbishing buildings and equipment.
Alhamdulillah, with your kind donations, or Sadaqah, we have been able to help thousands across the globe develop their own sustainable income through developing livelihood projects, and turn their lives around.
