Let’s face it, fasting isn’t always easy. Now imagine what it must feel like when the day is long and your strength is fading due to insufficient nutrition. Add to that that the burden of not knowing where your next meal is coming from.
For millions around the world that live in areas afflicted by natural disasters or conflicts, Ramadan during the global pandemic intensified their plight. Food insecurity increased due to borders remaining shut and economies at a standstill as the world locked down to flatten the Covid-19 curve.
At Islamic Relief South Africa, we believe that everyone should have the chance to enjoy Ramadan, to offer themselves fully to the spiritual benefits of this incredible month, without the need to worry about the simple things in life that we take for granted. We also believe in uniting the community to help serve the less fortunate. This Ramadan we called on you to support and the response was amazing!
With your help, Islamic Relief distributed over 155,000 nutritious food packs to vulnerable families around the world, eliminating their worry and instead providing them with much needed respite this Ramadan. Because of your generous donations, we could take care of almost 1 million people – providing them with sufficient food to last them through the month.
You honoured the month of Ramadan, maximised on the opportunities to gain reward from our Lord and entrusted us with the responsibility of ensuring that your donations were used in the most impactful ways. As we embraced a different Ramadan and Eid, you made a difference in the lives of so many people across the world.
From Afghanistan to Bangladesh, from Syria to Yemen and in 34 countries across the globe, your donations, but even more importantly, your love and your care has touched the hearts and lives of those most in need. You replaced fear with hope, despair with happiness and tears with smiles. Alhamdulillah!
Thank you for your continued support.
