The first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah are the most sacred days of the year, loved by Allah (SWT). By giving to Islamic Relief, you can reap the rewards of these blessed days and serve those in need.

“Aisha (RadiAllahuanhu) narrates that Rasul Allah said, “There is no dearer deed of Ibne Adam in the days of Qurbani than flowing the blood (doing Qurbani) and that animal will come with his horns, hairs, and hooves on the day of Judgment. The blood of the Qurbani reaches the stage of acceptance before it reaches the floor.” (Tirmidhi)

That is why your donations are so powerful. Not only do you fulfil the charitable obligations Allah (SWT) has set for us, but you also help relieve at least a little of the burden that a struggling family faces.

Hawa is a recipient of our Qurbani project in Kenya and as a widow to 10 children, she faces difficulty to sustain her family after the death of her husband who succumbed to tuberculosis five years ago.

“I currently run a grocery shop in the local market where I sell tomatoes, kale and other vegetables. My children and I rely on the money I make here for our survival. My husband passed away five years ago due to tuberculosis.”

Hawa’s family cannot afford meat and usually only consume it during the Eid festivities. Their food consists of mainly rice and vegetables. Hawa chooses to prioritise the school fees, housing and clothing of all ten children before considering to buy meat. She does understand that a balanced diet is important for good health and this Eid means Hawa and her children will receive a meat package from Islamic Relief.

“I am very grateful to receive some meat for my family on Eid. Eid is a great celebration and I’m happy that my children get to celebrate with all other Muslims.”

In 2019, Kenya faced a lockdown like the rest of the world. The COVID-19 pandemic led to a rise in food prices were noted and families like Hawa’s would face even more difficulty in purchasing essential food for their families.

Your donations are so powerful.

You are fulfilling a charitable obligations Allah (SWT) has set for us, but you also help relieve at least a little of the burden that a struggling family faces.

Right now, a staggering 1 in 9 people worldwide are battling chronic hunger, however, there is hope.

Give Qurbani and you can feed a family in need this Eid.

In 2019, Islamic Relief complete 155,295 Qurbanis and distributed 554,411 Qurbani meat packs in 34 countries. One of those meat packages made Hawa and her family of 10 children extremely happy last Eid, read her story here.
