Since 1984, we have been saving lives when major humanitarian disasters have struck. From Sudan in 1984, the Bosnian war and the siege of Sarajevo in 1992, floods across Pakistan in 2010 and the devastating earthquake in Nepal in 2015, we’ve been there supporting effected people and communities in their time of crisis.

Operating in conflict zones and reaching places where no other organisations are able to, we’ve responded to numerous crises across Gaza, Syria and Yemen. Inside Syria, our teams have been on the ground since the war began, and are still there now. Throughout the escalating conflict in Yemen, we have continued to distribute lifesaving aid to ease the suffering of some the most vulnerable people. We are proud to be one of the biggest NGOs in Yemen, saving lives in 21 of the country’s 22 governorates.

We don’t just respond in times of crisis. We stay on the ground to support communities with recovery from crisis and to ultimately enable them to transform their lives, move out of poverty and build a more sustainable future.

Alhamdulillah, together we have changed and saved over 110 million lives since 1984 and this is all thanks to your generous support.

How is your money spent?

Without the crucial support of our donors, none of this work would be possible. We recognise the trust placed upon us by our donors and wide support base and we take this responsibility seriously.

We work to make sure that we use your donations in the most efficient way possible, to ensure that we respond to communities in crisis when tragedy strikes, whilst also working to empower communities worldwide for a better future, free from poverty and inequality.

Here’s how your donations support millions of people worldwide, each and every day.

For every Rand spent:

86 cents is spent on direct charitable programmes enabling us to save and transform the lives of individuals, families and communities in need across the globe.

4 cents goes towards support costs allowing us to deliver aid locally in over 40 countries. With offices and partners on the ground across four continents, when a disaster hits, we’re able to respond immediately. Using locally employed staff enables us to respond more quickly, empower local communities and build strong lasting relationships with governments and local organisations. This enables us to deliver effective, targeted assistance to those who need it most.

7 cents is used towards fundraising so that we can generate future income and help even more people in need

2 cents is spent on trading and investment to facilitate our clothes recycling operations and additional Waqf programme to ensure that we raise as much support as possible for communities in need.

1 cents goes towards advocacy work, fighting the fundamental causes of poverty and inequality and finding longer lasting solutions to empowering communities worldwide over the long-term
