The devastating storm and tornado that hit the northern coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal have caused severe damage to homes, roads, and infrastructure. The impact of this disaster has left over 1,200 people homeless and resulted in widespread power outages in Tongaat and many parts of eThekwini. Tragically, 12 people have died, and more than 7,000 households have been affected.
Islamic Relief teams are on the ground in Tongaat and have distributed mattresses and blankets to support the victims of this disaster. We are committed to providing the necessary materials to help restore hope and stability to those affected. Our efforts are on ensuring that families can rebuild their homes and lives.
Islamic Relief has conducted thorough needs assessments in storm-affected Tongaat. We have identified an urgent need for specific building materials to help the affected families repair and rebuild their homes. These essential materials include:
