The importance of giving Qurbani
The Prophet (PBUH) highlighted the importance of giving Qurbani meat when he said:
“For every hair of the Qurbani you receive a reward from Allah (SWT).” [Tirmidhi]
Distributing Qurbani meat is a major programme for Islamic Relief, reflecting the passionate commitment of our donors have to the principle of sharing food with Muslims and non-Muslims in need at one of the most blessed times of the year.
Qurbani meat distributed to over 3.5 million people in 30 countries
Thanks to the support of our generous donors, Islamic Relief has been able to distribute fresh Qurbani meat to over 3.5 million people in 30 countries in 2016.
Our distributions have included hard-to-reach areas such as remote villages in Kenya and Mali, as well as conflict zones such as Syria and Yemen. In every location we select the beneficiaries through a ‘needs assessment’ that ensures that we assist the poorest families and the most vulnerable people.
