Responding to Cumbria Floods

Islamic Relief volunteers are teaming up with local organisations to distribute food and household goods to people who have been forced from their homes in the Cumbrian floods.

The volunteers will be providing hot drinks at a local church, and assessing how Islamic Relief can best help people hit by the floods. Islamic Relief is also supporting the Cumbria Community Foundation and donating £10,000 for a project, which will include replacing flood-damaged household items and helping people get back into their homes.

Imran Madden, UK director of Islamic Relief, said:

“The floods in Cumbria have been really devastating for thousands of people and we at Islamic Relief are more than happy to help. There’s never a good time to be flooded out of the family home, but approaching Christmas has to be the worst time.

“Islamic Relief is using its experience, gained on working in disasters around the world, to help the people of Cumbria in their hour of need.”
