TENDER: CALL FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS – QURBANI 2025/1446

Islamic Relief South Africa (IRSA) invites reputable and experienced Service Providers to submit proposals for the full provision of livestock and meat processing services as part of our Qurbani 2025 Programme, to be implemented in Lesotho.
Scope of Work
Successful bidders will be responsible for:
- Supplying, safeguarding, feeding, and storing approximately 60 cows/bulls per region (final quantity subject to change),
- Halaal slaughtering, skinning, cleaning, and cutting of livestock,
- Packaging meat into ±5 kg IRSA-branded bags (including offals/tongues separately),
- Cold storing of meat packs in temperature-controlled facilities for up to 7 days post-slaughter.
All activities must adhere strictly to Shariah guidelines and comply with South African environmental, hygiene, and labour legislation.
Livestock Requirements
- Minimum live weight: 450 kg
- Age: 2 to 4 years
- Quality: AB or B Grade
- Animals must be healthy, free from disease, and not pregnant
- All processing must follow Islamic slaughter principles (no stunning, no mechanical slaughter)
Veterinary inspection is mandatory two weeks before Eid, with required certification.
Submission Requirements
Service Providers must submit:
- Completed Tender Application Form
- Detailed Quotation (inclusive of VAT) for full Qurbani service
- Valid Veterinarian and Shariah Compliance Certificates
- SARS Tax Clearance and Company Registration documents
- Proof of banking details
- Reference list (minimum of 3 previous clients)
- Written commitment to ethical practices and Shariah compliance
A compulsory site inspection will take place from 14–18 May 2025.
