Islamic Relief

Islamic Relief South Africa (IRSA) is an independently registered NGO affiliated to Islamic
Relief Worldwide (IRW), the world’s largest, independent Muslim humanitarian
organisation. Islamic Relief’s mission is to help the poor and those in need regardless of
race, colour, political affiliation, gender or belief to live sustainable, self-reliant lives
within safe and caring communities.

Purpose of Department

Programme Support Officer’s responsibilities include making travel and meeting
arrangements, preparing reports and maintaining appropriate filing systems.

Duties and responsibilities

    1. Organize and support meetings, events and functions to support delivery of Programmes priorities.
    2. Maintain and continuously improve Programmes administrative systems, including forward/project plans, and maintain electronic filing systems.
    3. Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports, locally and internationally.
    4. Arrange room bookings, refreshments, printing, copying, distribution, travel and other administrative tasks in support of the team and/or lead members of the Programmes team.
    5. Participate in relevant Programmes department projects that support the delivery of the Programmes Implementation Plan.
    6. Answer and direct phone calls received from right-holders.
    7. Organize and schedule appointments with Partners and stakeholders.
    8. Plan meetings and take detailed minutes.
    9. Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports, locally and internationally
    10. Develop and maintain a filing system (hard and electronic copies).
    11. Update and maintain office policies and procedures in line with Programmes purchase and payment requests.
    12. Provide general support to visitors, requesters and intakes.
    13. Liaise with Programmes Coordinators, and support departments to handle requests and queries from Head of Department.

 

Educational Qualification:

A Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification.
