Islamic Relief Delivers 19 Tons of Medicine to Yemen

A cargo plane belonging to Islamic Relief – Yemen (IRY) arrived to Sana’a International Airport, carrying 19 tons of cholera medicines.

Country Director of IRY, Mohammad Zulqarnain, stated that this shipment is a part of a project to save cholera patients which is implemented in many provinces such as Amran, Al-Mahwit, Dhale, Abyan, Bayd, Hajjah, Dhamar, Al Hudaydah and, Sana’a in coordination with other international organizations, health sector and related parties.

“Islamic Relief strongly believe in helping people in need especially those who are affected by national and human induced disasters. The imported medicines are to be delivered at different DTCs to save lives of cholera patients. These medicines are to be delivered to patients free of cost. Islamic Relief is committed to continue its efforts to bridge gap between people in need of help and those who want to help Yemenis in this difficult time.” explained Zulqarnain

Zulqarnain confirmed that the achievement was not possible without tremendous help and support of Ministry of Health, Americare, WHO, Health Cluster, UNHAS, WFP and Islamic Relief Worldwide. I acknowledge 2-months restless efforts of Islamic Relief Yemen team to make it happen.

Recently the organization has implanted 15 cholera projects in Sana’a, Aden, Taiz, and other provinces.
IRY is active in the humanitarian field in Yemen since 1998, it has stepped up its activity during the last three years due to the severe humanitarian crisis in Yemen.”
