“Those who are merciful will be shown mercy by the All-Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth and the One in the heavens will have mercy upon you.” – Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

1) Prevent the spread

Wash Hands
Cough into elbow
Don’t touch your face
Social Distancing (Keep your distance)
Stay Home

2) Respond with community care

Check in on your elderly relatives, and parents with young babies to see if they need support.
Check in on your neighbours.
Check in on healthcare professionals you know who are on the front lines trying to manage the outbreak.
Reassure and remind each other where to focus your energy, and be careful of unverified information that may cause panic.

3) Do not buy more than what you really need

Think of others who may need the same things you’re stocking up on.
Remember that Allah will test communities with illness, and we are accountable for our response and actions.
Remind each other that there is no baraka in bringing benefit to ourselves while harming others.

4) Bring mercy to humanity

Recognize the vast disparity of wealth and privilege in our own communities and around the world, and see where you can help.
We are deeply concerned for our brothers and sisters in places like Syria, Gaza, and Yemen. An outbreak of this disease for those in the midst of conflict and poverty, will bring devastating impact.
Send your support to strengthen our emergency response in these areas and help supply hospitals that are already experiencing severe shortages.
Reflect on how our positive actions can impact humanity at large.
In times like these, it is our sense of community that is most important. Let us come together in wisdom, in mercy towards others, and in certainty in our Creator.
