‘For the first time in my life, I am completely happy’ – says Soha Mqat, a 24 year old disabled woman from the Gaza Strip.
Soha is an alumna of the Islamic Relief SA sponsored graduate internship project. This programme is designed to provide young adults with job skills and assistance finding jobs.
Due to continued conflict in the region, youth in Gaza have great difficulty finding employment. This project is creating customised training programs tailored to each student’s unique needs, along with technical training that will allow them to be eligible for specialized jobs.
‘As people with disabilities, especially women, we are vulnerable and do not have the opportunity to find a suitable job’, she said.
You have helped her achieve independence and a strong identity serving disabled children. Soha can now purchase her own medicine and groceries, she now has independence.
