Vacancy                    :           Regional Programmes Officer

Location                    :           Cape Town Head Office

Contract                    :           6 months fixed term, with a view to permanent

Salary                         :           R150, 000 to R185, 448 per annum

Islamic Relief South Africa is looking to recruit a Regional Programmes Officer for our Cape Town office.

The role will require you to identify, develop and implement humanitarian projects aimed at the upliftment of the region driven by the programmes strategy of Islamic Relief South Africa. The post holder will spearhead regional programming through identification of opportunities for project development and institutional fund-raising. The post holder will also participate in regional humanitarian and/or stakeholder meetings for enhanced institutional visability and fund-raising. The job holder will co-ordinate monitoring, evaluation and learning for regional projects in liaison with the programme team, implementing partners and IRSA and M&E Team. S/He will provide the general management of multiple regional projects in liaison with sector leads and/or HOD.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of a similar role, the relevant degree and/or diploma and an in depth understanding of community and sustainable development issues in an NGO environment. The candidate will have a broad understanding of and proven track record of field work experience in developing countries in rehabilitation, development and emergency contexts. The post holder will have ability to formulate own ideas and action plans. The candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the local region and community. The candidate will have the willingness to be flexible about hours and location of work in order to accommodate emergencies, delivery to a community and work activity. The post holder will have strong organisational skills i.e. ability to prioritise and plan work, set and achieve deadlines, establish and maintain monitoring systems and work cohesively with a professional team to reach goals set and deliver to the communities.

Location:        Cape Town Head Office and Johannesburg Regional Office

Salary:              R195,000 to R225,000 per annum

Islamic Relief South Africa is looking to recruit 2 community fundraisers.

The role will require you to develop and implement strategies to increase the funding income of Islamic Relief through a range of fundraising initiatives. The post holder will create awareness and as a result, instigate and support community activities to raise money for the specified cause. The post holder will establish and maintain contacts – donors, volunteers, local community leaders & external organisations. The job holder will ensure that local fundraising events, activities and collections etc (including outreach collections) run effectively and are well planned, marketed and supported. She or he will draw up and implement regional annual/campaign/activity plans with line managers according to agreed objectives and budgets.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of a community-based role. The candidate will have a broad understanding of fundraising techniques and the specific value, role and techniques utilised within community fundraising activity. The post holder will have ability to formulate own ideas and action plans. The candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the local region and community where a social following will be advantageous. The candidate will have the Willingness to be flexible about hours and location of work in order to accommodate events, functions and work activity. The post holder will have strong organisational skills i.e. ability to prioritise and plan work, set and achieve deadlines, establish and maintain monitoring systems etc.

Islamic Relief South Africa is looking to employ a Regional Fundraising Manager to strategically lead our Johannesburg Regional Office by doing the following:

  • Develop and implement regional strategies to increase the funding income of Islamic Relief through a range of fundraising initiatives and through acquisition and retention of volunteer fundraising team & supporters.
  • Maximise IRSA’s income from regional community networks, outreach networks and other community groups and individuals by developing, designing and implementing a sustainable community fundraising & volunteering strategy.
  • Ensuring that Islamic Relief’s image and communication are in line with systems, values and objectives of the organisation and reflect the culture of the organisation when promoting the brand amongst media platforms.
  • Regular and consistent contact with sub staff within the department in order to set, monitor and manage their tasks
  • Create a regional footprint of IRSA within all relevant networks, media and social platforms
  • To oversee and manage regional office and all employees therein in the Fundraising Department.

The successful candidate will have the required qualification and previous experience of Fundraising and Managing a team in the NGO sector. . The candidate will have a broad understanding of fundraising techniques and the specific value, role and techniques utilised within. A social media following with a network to high net worth donors in the Johannesburg region would be advantageous. The post holder will have ability to formulate own ideas and action plans and encourage buy-in from his/her team members, community and high net worth donors. The candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the local region, community. The candidate will have the willingness to be flexible about hours and location of work in order to accommodate events, functions and work activity. The post holder will have strong organisational skills i.e. ability to prioritise and plan work, set and achieve deadlines, establish and maintain monitoring, ability to lead a team of personalities effectively and efficiently etc.

Islamic Relief South Africa is looking to recruit 1 Events and Volunteer Co-ordinator for the specified location above. The role will require you to develop and implement strategies to increase the funding income of Islamic Relief through a range of eventsutilising your existing volunteer base created by yourself.The post holder’s role will be to create awareness and as a result, instigate, and support community activities and Islamic Relief. In order to raise money for the specified cause through volunteer groups to execute fundraising events on Islamic Relief’s behalf. The post holder will form strategic relationships with volunteer groups who execute fundraising events on IRSA’s behalf, co-ordinate effective volunteer fundraising events, co-ordinate and organise regional fundraising events and manage pledge sessions at events.
