Vacancy:                                Community Fundraiser

Location:                                Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban

Contract:                                6 months fixed term, with a view to permanent

Salary:                                    R195,000 to R225,000 per annum

Islamic Relief South Africa is looking to recruit 3 community fundraisers for our Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg offices. The role will require you to develop and implement strategies to increase the funding income of Islamic Relief through a range of fundraising initiatives. The post holder will create awareness and as a result, instigate and support community activities to raise money for the specified cause. The post holder will establish and maintain contacts – donors, volunteers, local community leaders & external organisations. The job holder will ensure that local fundraising events, activities and collections etc (including outreach collections) run effectively and are well planned, marketed and supported. She or he will draw up and implement regional annual/campaign/activity plans with line managers according to agreed objectives and budgets.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of a community-based role. The candidate will have a broad understanding of fundraising techniques and the specific value, role and techniques utilised within community fundraising activity. The post holder will have ability to formulate own ideas and action plans. The candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the local region and community. The candidate will have the Willingness to be flexible about hours and location of work in order to accommodate events, functions and work activity. The post holder will have strong organisational skills i.e. ability to prioritise and plan work, set and achieve deadlines, establish and maintain monitoring systems etc.

Vacancy                      :           Executive PA

Location                     :           Cape Town Head Office

Contract                     :           6 months fixed term, with the view to permanent

Salary                         :           R144, 000 to R180, 000 per annum

Islamic Relief South Africa is looking to recruit an Executive Personal Assistant to the CEO at our Cape Town Head Office.

The role will require you to provide comprehensive executive support to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors when required where you will work directly with the CEO to provide full-scale calendar management; schedule meetings internally, externally and with Islamic Relief Partners (when required); preparing for meetings, documentation with accurate follow up and travel coordination. The successful candidate would be required to work under their own initiative and plan their own workload as per the requirement of the CEO and workloads.

The successful candidate will have 3 to 4 years’ experience in a similar role, the relevant degree and/or diploma and an in depth understanding of the NGO environment. Excellent organisational skills and experience of arranging/coordinating meetings, conferences and events on an internationally basis. You will be highly proficient in all relevant computer literacy applications required for the effective and efficient running of the role. Highly-developed interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written). The position holder must have creative thinking, strong research skills and the ability to interpret data to develop workable solutions. An ability to respond quickly, positively and with flexibility to changing and often pressurised situations where you will be required to function effectively in the pressurised environment to reach the desired goal.

Vacancy                                   :                 Regional Fundraising Manager

Islamic Relief South Africa is looking to recruit a Regional Fundraising Manager for our Durban Regional Office

The main purpose of this job is to develop and implement regional strategies to increase the funding income of Islamic Relief through a range of fundraising initiatives and through acquisition and retention of volunteer fundraising team & supporters. The successful candidate should be skilled enough maximise IRSA’s income from regional community networks, outreach networks and other community groups and individuals by developing, designing and implementing a sustainable community fundraising & volunteering strategy and also ensuring that Islamic Relief’s image and communication are in line with systems, values and objectives of the organization and reflect the culture of the organization when promoting the brand amongst media platforms.

The RFM would have regular and consistent contact with sub staff within the department in order to set, monitor and manage their tasks.

You will be required to create a regional footprint of IRSA within all relevant networks, media and social platforms as well as oversee and manage regional office and all employees therein in order to reach your regional goals and extending the footprint of IR SA outside of your region.

 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant Degree with a reputable and registered institution.
  • 5 – 7 years in a similar NGO and fundraising environment with a proven successful track record.
  • Good understanding of the environment, its operations and dynamics.
  • Excellent relationships with the local businesses, prayer sites, youth and community at large.
  • Public Relations degree would be a major advantage.
  • Management certificates

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • The successful candidate Proven experience of managing and motivating staff and/or volunteers at a senior level
  • Senior level experience of successfully setting, managing and delivering on targets
  • Proven experience of gathering, analysing and interpreting information to represent an organisation at junior and senior levels
  • Experience of generating positive publicity from local media
  • Excellent Inter-personal skills including diplomacy, tact and listening skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing strategies and work plans which help to deliver the wider organisational strategy and objectives
  • Proven experience in senior management role and ability to manage people
  • Substantial experience in marketing, branding and media and marketing
  • Proven experience in leading co-ordinating and providing support to cross functional project teams.
  • Good knowledge of traditional and non-traditional Community Fundraising models
  • Proven ability to work to a high standard and with an eye for detail, working under own initiative strict deadlines, and managing accounts and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to absorb specialist information across a range of areas and present this in a simple and effective manner.
  • Willingness to work effectively across all teams at Islamic Relief
  • Positive approach to working in a busy open plan office as part of a team
  • Commitment to Islamic Relief’s values and working style.
  • Ability to work outside of office hours with overnight stays as required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong understanding of local and international NGO sector and trends
  • Good project management skills
