Vacancy                    :           Regional Programmes Officer

Location                    :           Cape Town Head Office

Contract                    :           6 months fixed term, with a view to permanent

Salary                         :           R150, 000 to R185, 448 per annum

Islamic Relief South Africa is looking to recruit a Regional Programmes Officer for our Cape Town office.

The role will require you to identify, develop and implement humanitarian projects aimed at the upliftment of the region driven by the programmes strategy of Islamic Relief South Africa. The post holder will spearhead regional programming through identification of opportunities for project development and institutional fund-raising. The post holder will also participate in regional humanitarian and/or stakeholder meetings for enhanced institutional visability and fund-raising. The job holder will co-ordinate monitoring, evaluation and learning for regional projects in liaison with the programme team, implementing partners and IRSA and M&E Team. S/He will provide the general management of multiple regional projects in liaison with sector leads and/or HOD.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of a similar role, the relevant degree and/or diploma and an in depth understanding of community and sustainable development issues in an NGO environment. The candidate will have a broad understanding of and proven track record of field work experience in developing countries in rehabilitation, development and emergency contexts. The post holder will have ability to formulate own ideas and action plans. The candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the local region and community. The candidate will have the willingness to be flexible about hours and location of work in order to accommodate emergencies, delivery to a community and work activity. The post holder will have strong organisational skills i.e. ability to prioritise and plan work, set and achieve deadlines, establish and maintain monitoring systems and work cohesively with a professional team to reach goals set and deliver to the communities.

Islamic Relief South Africa is recruiting for an experienced Care Worker. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting the Field Worker to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the Rights Holders programme by facilitating in the enrichment of the lives of the Orphans in all aspects.

Purpose of the position

  • To respond holistically to the needs of orphans and vulnerable children, youth and families who are vulnerable and at-risk and sponsored by Islamic Relief South Africa
  • Candidates are screened, selected, trained and deployed as child and
  • Youth care workers servicing families in their own communities.
  • To provide feedback of home visits and needs within the community to the line manager
  • To play an active role in terms of home based care as and where the need arises
  • To network and engage with stakeholders in the community in which the OVC’s reside

Key Accountabilities

  • 1x weekly Home Visit per OVC
  • Needs Assessment
  • Capturing photograph of each child
  • Ensuring all the relevant consent forms are signed by a guardian
  • Intake of orphans and vulnerable children
  • Basic counselling
  • Identify needs per case/family
  • Home based care as and when needed ( training will be provided by IRSA)
  • Assisting with events relating to OVC and their families
  • Inform case studies
  • Inform reports for 121 Sponsorship

The post holder’s role requires the incumbent oversee and effectively manage all aspects of the relevant regional office to ensure that optimal efficiency and productivity within the daily running of the office environment.

The Office Administrator/Receptionist is responsible on a daily basis for ensuring the smooth operation of the office and administrative functions which includes but is not limited to petty cash, reconciliation of banking, bank deposits, screening calls, donor relations, switchboard, simple finance related tasks, minute taking, office management, supplier relations, asset management etc.

The successful candidate will have the required qualification and previous 3 – 5 year experience in office administration/reception. The candidate will have a friendly and warm demeanour with excellent organisational skills suitable for the Islamic NGO environment. The post holder will have ability to formulate own ideas and action plans in order to improve the role. The candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the local region and community. The candidate will have the willingness to be flexible about hours. Islamic Relief South Africa is looking to recruit 3 Events and Volunteer Co-ordinator for the specified locations above. The role will require you to develop and implement strategies to increase the funding income of Islamic Relief through a range of eventsutilising your existing volunteer base and that is created by yourself.

The post holder’s role will be to create awareness and as a result, instigate, and support community activities and Islamic Relief. In order to raise money for the specified cause through volunteer groups to execute fundraising events on Islamic Relief’s behalf. The post holder will form strategic relationships with volunteer groups who execute fundraising events on IRSA’s behalf, co-ordinate effective volunteer fundraising events, co-ordinate and organise regional fundraising events and manage pledge sessions at events. The job holder will ensure that local fundraising events, activities (including outreach collections) run effectively and are well planned, marketed and supported. She or he will draw up and implement regional events plans with line managers according to agreed objectives and budgets.

The successful candidate will have the required qualification and previous experience of events managements and public relations. The candidate will have a broad understanding of fundraising techniques and the specific value, role and techniques utilised within events and volunteer co-ordinating within the NGO sector. The post holder will have ability to formulate own ideas and action plans. The candidate will have knowledge and understanding of the local region and community. The candidate will have the willingness to be flexible about hours and location of work in order to accommodate events, functions and work activity. The post holder will have strong organisational skills i.e. ability to prioritise and plan work, set and achieve deadlines, establish and maintain monitoring systems etc.
