Islamic Relief has committed R750 000 towards the Booysens Fire Emergency

Late afternoon on Friday, 22nd January 2021, the Booysens Informal Settlement, south of Johannesburg, was on fire. Firefighters have managed to contain the blaze, however many families are now homeless. This catastrophe has left over 5000 people displaced, fortunately there were no fatalities. Families have lost their possessions in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Islamic Relief is responding.

Islamic Relief is on the ground providing temporary shelters, food, living essentials and water to the affected families. We are working closely on a response plan with the Johannesburg Disaster Management teams and partners.
