VACANCY: COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Islamic Relief South Africa is recruiting for an individual responsible to promote Islamic Relief’s work to the mainstream media to support management of Islamic Relief’s public face through writing press releases, articles, and regular content for the website

PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • Responsible for managing IRSA’s offline marketing as well as social media activities
  • Co-ordinate in the delivery of effective direct marketing appeals, across a range of communication channels, as part of a wider fundraising strategy

Key Competencies

ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS

  • Develop relationship with and liaise with suppliers for procurement needs
  • Liaising with suppliers for the actual delivery of material
  • Liaising with suppliers regarding payment process for Department
  • Ensuring advertising deadlines are met

MARKETING

  • Monitor and review marketing activities to ensure the marketing strategy is being achieved.
  • Monitor media and marketing trends of IRW and other IR offices to ensure uniformity with IR branding strategy
    • Co-ordinate and be actively involved on all stages of event management from conception to post event reporting, and all adhoc tasks related to successful implementation
    • Preparing social media content and implement strategy across all platforms

Educational Qualification

Degree/Diploma in Communications or Marketing other than other relevant qualification

Minimum 2 years of professional experience in similar position with demonstrated experience

Skills & Knowledge Required

Ability to research and write clear and creative content quickly for a variety of channels, including press, print and web.

Previous experience in journalism or press officeExcellent verbal communication skills with an excellent command of English; good presentational skills

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Islamic Relief South Africa seeks to look to recruit a Marketing and Communications Manager at our head office in Cape Town. The Communications department within Islamic Relief ensures that Islamic Relief’s brand is effectively communicated externally.

KEY COMPETENCY

·       Ensuring that Islamic Relief’s image and communication are in line with systems, values and objectives of the organisation and reflect the culture of the organisation when promoting the brand amongst media platforms.

CORE DUTIES

PA TO THE COO

Job Title: Personal Assistant to the COO

Status: Full time

Location: Cape Town, South Africa

Department: Office of the Chief Operating Officer

The role works directly with the COO to provide full-scale calendar management; schedule meetings internally, externally and with staff members, stakeholders and donors as required. In addition preparing for meetings, documentation with accurate follow up and travel coordination is a focal area of the role.

 

Key Competencies

  • Provide comprehensive support to the COO
  • Manage diary of COO, as well as meetings, and required follow-ups

 

Key Accountabilities

  • To manage and oversee all administrative and secretarial support to allow for the COO to function efficiently within his portfolio
  • Maintain and manage all office filing, storing and archiving as well as facilities.
  • Attend to all travel and logistical arrangements
  • Arrange meetings between the COO an internal and external stakeholders
  • Advise the COO with regard to scheduled meetings, tasks, and deadlines.
  • Arrange preparation of documents and briefings prior to meetings, discussions or attending events.
  • Information resources (e.g. filing, electronic and manual systems, contact databases, preparation packs for visitors, publications)
  • Responsible for liaison with all managers by following up on commitments and coordination and collection and timely submission of reports.
  • Management of incoming mail/e-mail, telephone calls and progress chasing.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A nationally recognised Office Administration or Secretarial qualification or currently studying towards
  • 2-3 years Executive PA work experience

FINANCE ADMINISTRATOR

Location: Cape Town

Islamic Relief South Africa is looking to recruit a Finance Administrator to be based at Headoffice in Cape Town.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing transparent finance reporting for the organisation, as well as prepare budgets for project proposals and annual budgetary submissions under the management of the Head of Finance.

CORE DUTIES

·       Establish and maintain sound financial management and controls on all transaction across all offices

·       Review of Income Statements and Balance Sheets

·       Analysis of costs and expenditure with the partner and field operations

REQUIREMENTS
·          A bachelor degree or diploma course in Accounting, Finance or Related field

·          Pastel Software qualification and experience a necessity

·          3 years of increasingly responsible experience in accounting preferably in international NGOs
